Program Information and Hours: The Youth Center is a safe and secure drop-in program; you can relax with friends, play ping-pong or pool, watch TV, read and do homework, play PS4 games, and utilize the large computer lab. Daily hours throughout the school year are: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 7:00pm. The Youth Center is closed on Saturday & Sunday.
Director’s Message: As winter turns to spring and the weather begins to warm up, come in to the Youth Center and enjoy some games in the AC or take advantage of the nice weather and play some basketball outside. With the weather turning warmer, it is also a reminder that summer is right around corner and with summer comes the FCYC Summer Camp! Registration is taking place now and is open to the first 60 applicants! Remember, spring break will be March 11th - 15th and the Youth Center will be closed. There is also a teacher workday on Friday March 22nd and the Youth Center will be closed that day as well. With spring comes two of America’s favorite pastimes; Baseball and Testing! With testing season upon us, I would like to wish all the students in Flagler County good luck on all their upcoming state and district tests!
Student Advisory Council:. On March 19, SAC will meet at 2:15 in the Youth Center. If you are interested in participating in SAC please plan to attend the meeting on March 19.
Summer Camp: Open Registration for the 2019 Summer Camp begins on March 1st. The camp is open to incoming 6th-9th grade students and the cost is $165 for the entire summer. March Motown Madness: Mark your calendars NOW, for Saturday March 23rd at 6:00pm. The Dinner Dance will feature music by the popular group “Traces of Gold.” The event is designed for everyone to have a super time, while raising funds for the George Washington Carver Foundation. Tickets are $50pp, and will be available at the Carver Community Center, the Flagler County Youth Center, as well as from every G.W. Carver Foundation board member. Save the date! The annual Motown Madness event will be on March 23rd at 6pm at the Carver Center.
Road to Success Program: RTS has helped 193 young adults earn their GEDs to-date with 26 of those earning honors. RTS is a FREE year-round program and currently enrolling now for March. RTS enrolls up to 45 students per year, we focus on GED prep, life skills and pre-employment training. Over the last several months RTS has had 96.5% of students graduating with their GEDs and a job or post-secondary education. In March we starting a new student “paid”internship at the Flagler Humane Society working at their adoption center. RTS students also had in-house educational and training workshops by Sayskids Bryan Perry, Army recruiters, First Aid / CPR Certification, resume writing assistance, Graduation pictures completed, and will be attending the Daytona State College Job Fair on March 1st. In March, students will also have presentation from DJJ’s “Know the Law”, FTIs Travis Thomas, Wells Fargo Banks Lauren Roeck, Stewart Marchman staff and Career Source Flagler assisting with students resumes. Student will also be taking a tour of the Palm Coast Fire Department on March 14th.
