Hours of Operation: The Youth Center daily hours, throughout the School Year are: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 7:00pm. The building follows the school calendar. The only exception for this is when there are Special Events scheduled. The Youth Center is Closed on Saturday & Sunday.
2017 Youth Center Scholarship Winners: Congratulations to Kamrin Bunn & Daniel Thomas, the 2017 Flagler County Youth Center $500 Scholarship winners. Both students earned this award with their continued support of the Youth Center activities throughout their 4 years at FPC. Kamrin, President of the Youth Center’s Students Advisory Council, and Daniel the Vice-President will be missed and hard to replace. Best of luck to both, as they embark on an exciting future.
Road to Success Program Update 2017: RTS has helped 106 young adults earn their General Education Diplomas,12 with honors, along with life skills and pre-employment training. This month workshops included workplace ethics, college exploration and how to become an entrepreneur, mock interviews, career pathway and career assessments. Students also took a field trip to Marineland for a behind the scenes tour and touch and feed the dolphins excursion. G. W. Carver Annual 2017 On-Line Auction: The On-Line Auction came to a close on Thursday, April 27th, at 6:00pm. Every year a number of wonderful items and activities are offered up for bid. Winning residents not only get great items, but also help support the continued success of the George Washington Carver Foundation, the fundraising arm of the G.W. Carver Community Center.
2017 Spotlight on Youth Talent Show Friday, May 26th, 7pm, Flagler Auditorium: Open auditions resulted in a number of wonderful acts that will perform for “Entertainer of the Year” Honors, in the: Elementary , Middle , and High School Divisions. The actual show is set for the LAST day of school. Mark your calendars now, to be certain NOT to miss any of the action, and to support YOUR schools representatives!
2017 Youth Center Summer Camp Update: The Youth Center’s Summer Camp is FULL! Currently, we are accepting Wait List campers, with hope to add to the camp, if possible, in June. Summer Camp Trips are open to All Flagler County youth. Check out the list below, and if interested id any trips, sign-up, with payment in hand, in the Youth Center.
2017 Sumer Camp Trips: Daytona Lagoon: June 9th, 21st, and July 6th. Universal: June 13th. Bowling: June 23rd, and July 21st. IMAX Theater: June 28th. Skate $ Shake: July 12th. Epic Movies: July 19th, and Typhoon Lagoon: July 26th.
SWAT: Tobacco 21 Update: Kamrin Bunn and Daniel Thomas, two Youth Center SWAT Students, and Bella Giuliano, took on changing the age of smoking tobacco from 18 to 21, as their Community Problem Solving Project. The group was able to get Resolutions adopted, along with Letter of Support from the Flagler County Commission, City of Palm Coast, City of Bunnell, and Flagler Beach. All three seniors at FPC did a super job, and should be commended for their efforts!
Turning It Around Award Winner: Every year, all Flagler schools and local youth organizations have an opportunity to honor a youth who has literally “Turned It Around”, to be a better student and youth. The Youth center’s 2017 Award was presented to: Etan Otero, by the Youth Center’s Activity Specialist Steve MacCloskey. Congratulations Ethan for a super year, and bright future!
