Hours of Operation: The Youth Center daily hours, throughout the School Year are: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 7:00pm. The building follows the school calendar. The only exception for this is when there are Special Events scheduled. The Youth Center is Closed on Saturday & Sunday.
Road to Success Program Update 2017: We have reached 100 grads, 12 with honors. Our workshops this month included resume writing and mock interviewing and prepping students for the next field trip on March 3rd to the Job Fair at DSC in Palm Coast. We have just signed up the 9th student in our Work Experience portion of the program and was awarded an additional $10,000 to fund the Interns by Career Source Flagler Volusia. RTS Students completed graduation pictures and 5 students earned their GEDs in February. We had 13 students complete the First Aid & CPR training and the first week in March they will be completing their Food Handlers Certification. Black Family (Minority) Summit Review: Was held on Saturday, February 25th, 10am -2:00pm, in the Center. Conversations were held on: Know the Law & Civil Citations, Youth and Law Enforcement, Human Trafficking, and Faith with today’s youth. Participants received information from state & local professionals. At the conclusion of the event a Pizza Parle was held with all in attendance, discussing local issues facing communities and today’s youth. Sponsored By: Vitas Health Care & the G.W. Carver Foundation. The event was hosted by the Flagler County Juvenile Justice Council’s DMC Committee and Focus on Flagler Youth Coalition.
SAC Dodgeball Tournament: Youth Center’s Student Advisory Council’s Annual Dodge Ball Tournament, in FPC Gym, is set for Friday, March 24th at 6:00pm. The cost is $2pp, with ALL proceeds being donated to the Relay for Life. Can the FPC Wrestling Team remain “Kings” of the Dodgeball Court? Only time will tell! Sign-up you team of 5 at the Youth Center.
SWAT Club: Kick Butts Kickball Game: Immediately after the Dodgeball Tournament on March 24th, around 8:30pm, in the FPC Gym, the Youth Center SWAT Club will sponsor one Kick Butts Kickball Game. Any student can participate in an event designed to promote the end of smoking, and celebrate National Kick Butts Day!
Motown Madness: Saturday March 25th: On March 25th at 6:00pm the Carver Gym comes alive with the Motown sound! Tickets are on sale now, from any G.W. Carver Foundation member and are $50pp. Get you tickets NOW, in order to participate in this FUN event supporting the continued efforts of the George Washington Carver Foundation! G. W. Carver Annual 2017 On-Line Auction: Yes, it is that time again! Auction items are being collected and the on-line event opens up on Wednesday, April 11th at 12 noon, and concludes on Thursday, April 27th, at 6:00pm. 2017 Spotlight on Youth Talent Show OPEN Auditions: Tuesday & Wednesday: April 18th & 19th, in the Youth Center. Any K-12 grade Flagler County Youth is eligible to audition for a spot in the 2017 Spotlight Talent Show. If you can sing, dance, play an instrument, or possess a special talent, you are welcome to audition. Prizes will be awarded in the Elementary, Middle, and High School Divisions.
2017 Youth Center Summer Camp: Youth Center’s Summer Camp Registration: Once again the Youth Center will sponsor their annual Summer Camp, for youth going into 6th grade – youth going into 9th grade. March is the beginning for Open Enrollment for campers. This year’s program runs Monday – Friday, from 8:00am – 5:30pm beginning on Monday, June 5th, and concludes on Friday, July 28th. Registration is open until all spaces are filled and is based on a first come first serve basis. The TOTAL cost for camp is $160.00. Throughout the program there are various trips, which you can pay as you choose to go, including destinations like: Daytona Lagoon, Universal Studios, Typhoon Lagoon, to name a few.
