Hours of Operation: The Youth Center daily hours, throughout the School Year are: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 7:00pm. The building follows the school calendar. The only exception for this is when there are Special Events scheduled. The Youth Center is Closed on Saturday & Sunday. 

Road to Success Program: RTS has help 90 students to-date earned their GEDs with 11 students scoring with honors. Our Guest speakers for November included, Coaching the Global Village staff who conducted life skills and pre-employment workshops. Students also attended workshops by the Girls Connect Group. RTS held their 4th annual Thanksgiving luncheon catered by Sonny’s BBQ – RTS teacher’s Linda Askew and Dr. Douglas Mikutel were recognized for their dedication and years of service and Taahira Lee was awarded RTS’s “Best Employee” award. Field trips for November included Camp Winona, Daytona State College, Palm Coast location and to Marine Land for a behind the scenes tour and feed the dolphins. RTS has had a 91% success rate this year for students earning their GEDs.  RTS has five students involved in the Paid Work Experience portion of the program were students can learn soft skills at a job site while earning a paycheck. Youth Center’s SWAT: Students Working Against Tobacco Chapter Updates: SWAT members participated in a slogan contest to celebrate the “Great American Smoke Out”. After a number of entries were received the winner: “Be a SMARTIE… Don’t Smoke” was designed by SWAT Chair Destiny Cole. Destiny won a Walmart Gift Card, and her logo was used on cards handed out to FPC Student Body, with “Smartie” Candies attached.

 

2016 Employee of the Year: Brandon Seminara, the Youth Center’s Assistant Director, has been honored by being nominated as a candidate for Flagler County Schools 2016 Employee of the Year! Staring his career at the Youth Center, 11 years ago as an 8th grade summer Counselor in Training (CIT), little did anyone know that one day he would not only be the Youth Center second in command, but also a nominee for employee of the year. An FPC graduate, working PT on a degree form Daytona State, Brandon was nominated  not only for doing a great job with his day to day duties, but more for the work he has dime above and beyond the call of duty. We all wish him well on his nomination, and are grateful, no matter what happens, that he works for the Flagler County Youth Center!

 

Starlight Parade & Party:  The Youth Center’s Student Advisory Council and Students Working Against Tobacco Club , ill participate in the City of Palm Coasts: 2016 Starlight Parade. The parade is set for Saturday, December 10th, in the Town Center. After the parade, all Youth Center participants will enjoy a feast in the Youth Center and Holiday Party.

Holiday Happening: Youth Center participants are invited to participate in this FREE Sweet Treat Give-A-Way, on Thursday, December 15th, at 3:00pm. All you need to do to participate is BE present!

FCYC Welcomes New Staff: Participants were eager to welcome Ms. Charmain Penden to Youth Center Staff. Ms. Charmain is busy meeting everyone, and is looking forward to know all participants.
