Program Info and Hours: The Youth Center is a safe and secure drop-in program; you can relax with friends, play ping-pong or pool, watch TV, read and do homework, play PS4 games, and utilize the large computer lab. Daily hours throughout the school year are: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 7:00pm. The Youth Center is closed on Saturday & Sunday.
 

2018-2019 Staff Update: Returning once again to lead the Youth Center staff is Cheryl Massaro who is the Youth Center’s Director. Also returning is Brandon Seminara which was last year’s Flagler Schools Employee of the Year and the Assistant Director. Part time staff includes Eric Guerrero, Charmaine Peden, and Carlos Rodriguez.

 

Summer Camp Update:  Once again the Youth Center held a very successful summer camp for 60 middle and high school youth.  On the last day of camp, July 27th a number of campers received rewards for their summer activities. 2018 Camp Champions Included: Laila Davis (Jenga), Ethan Laupepa (Ping-Pong), Kameron Davis (8 Ball), Wyatt Ferenz (E-Games), and Kimya Lewis (Checkers).  All Camp Champions earned bragging rights, plus received a free trip, or ½ price Typhoon Lagoon trip, compliments the Youth Center’s Summer Camp. 2018 Special Awards went to: Top Athletes: Payton Woodward & Leila Bifalco. Entertainer of the Year: Ethan Laupepa. Camper of the Year:Evan Davis & Josephine Silano, Karaoke King: Wyatt Ferenz, Karaoke Queen: Emma Laupepa. Counselor In Training of the Year: Poiniu Laupepa & Savanna Bifalco. Volunteer of the Year: Christian DeCruz. The most impressive award to the camps to top campers, a FULL Scholarship to the 2019 Summer Camp, a $160 Value, went to SUPER CAMPERS: Pierce Woodward & Laila Davis. The summer always concludes with a whole camp Red, White and Blue competition. all campers are split into one of the three teams, and compete for points in every camp activity. The winning team receives bragging rights as well as a Pizza Party. It is an honor to caption the winning team. The 2018 Victor was RED, Captained by: Gordon Beck, Wyatt Ferenz, Laila Davis and Pounui Lapepa. Way to go TEAM!!!

Road To Success Program: RTS has helped 156 young adults earn their GEDs to date with 18 earning honors. RTS is a year-round program and we are now enrolling for August and September. Our events this past month included: Field trip to Daytona’s Museum of Science, workshops by FTI’s Travis Thomas, DJJ “Know the Law” by Zemetria L. Anderson and Financials by Lauren Roeck with Wells Fargo bank.   Students also received First Aid & CPR training and certification. We would also like to welcome our new GED Teacher, Danielle Merritt .  She will be part of our team teaching math and science.
