Hours of Operation: The Youth Center daily hours, throughout the School Year are: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 7:00pm. The building follows the school calendar. The only exception for this is when there are Special Events scheduled. The Youth Center is Closed on Saturday & Sunday.
Road to Success Program Update 2017: RTS has helped 100 young adults earn their General Education Diplomas,12 with honors, along with life skills and pre-employment training. This month workshops included resume writing, mock interviews, career pathway and career assessments. Workshops were also conducted by PNC bank staff on financial literacy and banking and Snead Arneaud, from Girlfriends Connected, provided female mentoring sessions. On March 3rd we attended the Job Fair at DSC in Palm Coast were three students interviewed on the spot and obtained jobs. RTS students also received Food Handlers training and received certifications. We have now reached nine students in our Work Experience portion of the program and was recently awarded an additional $10,000 to fund the student’s internships by Career Source Flagler Volusia. SAC Dodgeball Tournament: Youth Center’s Student Advisory Council’s Annual Dodge Ball Tournament, in FPC Gym, was held on Friday, March 24th at 6:00pm. A super time was had by all participants!
SWAT Club: Kick Butts Kickball Game: To celebrate National Kick Butts Day, the Youth Center SWAT hosted a Kickball Game. On Friday, March 24th.
Motown Madness: Saturday March 25th: The second annual event was held on March 25th by the G.W. Carver Foundation. The major Fundraising Event with ALL proceeds going to the continued improvements of the G.W. Carver Community Center. Everyone in attendance had a super time, with super food and outstanding music by Traces of Gold. Thank you one and all for continuing to support this local worthwhile cause assisting many area youth & adults!
G. W. Carver Annual 2017 On-Line Auction: Yes, it is that time again! Auction items are being collected and the on-line event opens up on Wednesday, April 5th at 12 noon, and concludes on Thursday, April 27th, at 6:00pm. 2017 Spotlight on Youth Talent Show OPEN Auditions: Tuesday & Wednesday: April 18th & 19th, in the Youth Center. Any K-12 grade Flagler County Youth is eligible to audition for a spot in the 2017 Spotlight Talent Show. If you can sing, dance, play an instrument, or possess a special talent, you are welcome to audition. Prizes will be awarded in the Elementary, Middle, and High School Divisions.
2017 Youth Center Summer Camp: Youth Center’s Summer Camp Registration: Once again the Youth Center will sponsor their annual Summer Camp, for youth going into 6th grade – youth going into 9th grade. March is the beginning for Open Enrollment for campers. This year’s program runs Monday – Friday, from 8:00am – 5:30pm beginning on Monday, June 5th, and concludes on Friday, July 28th. Registration is open until all spaces are filled and is based on a first come first serve basis. The TOTAL cost for camp is $160.00. Throughout the program there are various trips, which you can pay as you choose to go, including destinations like: Daytona Lagoon, Universal Studios, Typhoon Lagoon, to name a few.
