Hours of Operation: The Youth Center daily hours, throughout the School Year are: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 7:00pm. The building follows the school calendar. The only exception for this is when there are Special Events scheduled. The Youth Center is Closed on Saturday & Sunday.  

Senior Scholarships: Every year the Youth Center awards one – two $500 Scholarships to seniors who have made a positive impact on the organization and operation of the Youth Center and its Student Advisory Council. The 2018 Awards were presented to: Destiny Cole from FPC and Sam Velazquez from MHS. Both seniors have proved extremely valuable to the Youth Center, and are wished the best of luck in whatever the future has in store for them!

Summer Camp Registration: The Youth Center’s Summer Camp is FULL. Individuals are encouraged to sign-up for the Waitlist, as soon as possible, for a chance to get accepted. Camp begins on Monday, June 4th – Friday, July 27th.

Road To Success Program: RTS has helped 149 young adults earn their GEDs to date with 16 earning honors, five earned diplomas during the month of April. Our workshops this month included: RTS staff with resumes, career assessments, job searching, Wells Fargo bank reviewed banking, Sayskids conducted a workshop on Wrap around services, Nurse Linda Broxton provided First Aid & CPR Certification class. During May RTS will be providing Food handlers certification to participants, DJJ is conducting “Know the law”, graduation pictures are on May 4th, Wells Fargo Bank workshops, and a field trip to Daytona State Colleges ATC campus. RTS and Habitat for Humanity started another youth internship at their thrift shop in April, which will last about 2 1/2 months. This contract year we have enrolled 37 students with 8 remaining seats open until July 1st. GW Carver Foundation Motown Madness Event Review:  A wonderful evening was enjoyed by many local community members, representatives, and staff.  Enjoying the smooth soulful sound of Nate & Company, while dining on stuffed chicken breasts provided by the one and only Chicken Pantry. Once again the highlight of the evening was the wonderful “Cake Auction”. Twenty seven sweet treats donated by local community members were auctioned off by Commissioner Nate McLaughlin, assisted by Flagler School Staff. Many items collected $170, with ALL proceeds benefiting the GW Carver Foundation the fundraising arm for the GW Carver Community Center.  A great evening raising money for a super cause, can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday evening! Thank you one and all, for organizing and participating in this event, and helping make the dreams of Carver Community Center participants a hopefully reality.   

GW Carver Foundations On-Line Auction: The design of the 2018 auction has been well received, and perked the interest of many new viewers. The auction has proved to be another success for the GW Carver Foundation’s Fundraising efforts, and will handsomely contribute to the pot developed to build an addition onto the front of the Carver Community Center. Thank you for donating items and experiences to list and special thanks to every participant who placed a bid!

Spotlight Talent Show: Thursday, May 24th 7:00pm in the Flagler Auditorium. Who will be crowned Elementary, Middle School and High School Entertainers of the Year??   All the performers have been selected.  Now the work begins to polish their act to see if they can be named one of three “Entertainers of the Year”! Mark your calendars now and plan to attend this awesome local talent show!
